Date: 4-5 April 2021: Media Women Network conducted training Promotion of Women’s Leadership in Media Industry. The training held 12 women journalist works in media houses in Garowe and trained which has been focus on Media Management and leadership to empowering young female journalists to join top positions in the media industry and to play key role in the media houses particularly within management.
This training was two-day training and it took place at City View Hotel in Garowe , Puntland State of Somalia from 4th to 5th April 2021. The Training was led by implemented by media women network and supported by IMS-FOJO. The beneficiaries who attended this monumental training acquired many significant skills and knowledge pertaining management in the media industry that entail: Media management, communication skills, people management, newsroom, team building, negotiation, mentorship, gender policy career planning, gender Mainstreaming, negotiation skills as well gender and media management and the importance of Social Media.
Remarks.
Chairman of Media Association of Puntland Mohamed Dahir Caysane was speaking at the closing of the training, praised Media Women Network for its ongoing efforts to improve the quality and skills of female journalists, as part of the leadership of the media.
“He encouraged this training on establishment the leadership role of female journalists. as MAP, we stand for female journalists to play a leading role in the media and know that no matter how much one is helped, if there is no commitment, help will not make much sense,” said Chairman Mohamed Dahir Aynsane.
Fadumo Ladan, is one of the female journalists who benefited from the training, she said this training has changed a lot of things in her media skills, that she is now proud to play a leading role in leading various media outlets.
The training is part of a structure of programs that Media Women Network to enhance the professionalism of female journalists to build their capacity, particularly in leadership, management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills in some of the country’s major cities.
