Puntland: Training of Increase the number of women in middle and senior management positions of Somalia media houses:

Garowe, 17- October, 2019: This training conducted Increase the number of women in middle and senior management positions of  Somalia media houses. The training was holding 12 women journalist works in media houses in Garowe, and trained which has been focus on Media Management and leadership to empowering young female journalists to join top positions in the media industry and to play key role in the media houses particularly within management. This training was one -day.

The training, implemented by Media Women Network with support from IMS and FOJO,

The training  focus on leadership, media management, gender balancing, career planning work, developing planning and formulating policies of media sectors that reflect equality in the workplace, managing people, communication and negotiation skills.

Opening speakers of the training, Secretary General Nacimo Muse Dallaf said women can lead in any sector but need to be given the opportunity to show their potential.

“ Leadership is equal for men and women depends on how everyone uses their talents, knowledge and career. I urge you to play your role in leading Somali women,”  said Nacima Muse Dallaf, secretary of Puntland Journalists Association. (MAP).

Namco Hassan Bakal, one of the participants who benefited from the training Increase the number of women in middle and senior management positions of Somalia media houses, pointed out that the training came at a time when there was a great need for real change in the way media outlets operation.

“This training is a golden opportunity for me, and I hope it will change my career path and my ambition to manage the media sector, I have gained in particular in terms of the training such, knowledge,  skills And it has built my self-esteem This was stated by Nimo Hassan Bakal.
